Thousands of households in the North East who were left out in the cold will now receive the £400 energy bill discount from next month.
The Government has confirmed that additional funding will be made available so that the payment will be extended to help those who were previously excluded from the cost of living scheme, a package of measures to help households with rising bills. Tenants who pay for their energy all-inclusive with their rent, people whose homes are heated using a district or centralised heating scheme and those living in caravans or park homes will now all get the grant.
The £400 rebate money will usually be paid in six instalments, with a discount of £66 applied to energy bills in October and November, and £67 a month from December to March 2023, although how you actually receive your money will depend on how you pay your bill and which energy supplier you are with.
