Thousands of people braved the rain and cold to watch one of the only firework's displays taking place in Manchester this year. People gathered at the Mayfield Park for their bonfire night event with Escape to Freight Island.
Visitors were able to view the dazzling from the comfort of the venue as well as on the park. with food, drink and entertainment on offer. Earlier this month it was revealed that Manchester Council is scrapping fireworks displays and bonfire events at parks across the borough.

Previously events were held in eight parks including Heaton Park, Platt Fields Park, and Debdale Park, and last took place in 2019 before the pandemic. According to the Council the cancellations are due to numerous reasons, including escalating costs, increased safety measures and pressure on Council budgets.
Couple Katie and Alick who came to the park with their children stressed the importance of holding organised fireworks displays after the recent cancellation
Speaking to the MEN Katie said: "We came to see a fireworks display because it was cancelled so, it's great that we can come to an organised display.
"It's my daughter's first fireworks. I think it's important for us to hold events like this, it's about history and it's important to keep tradition going."
Best friends and Emma and Hayden said: "We live around the corner and I wanted to see a fireworks display and I thought who better to come with than my best friend Hayden.
"It's really nice because this park is new so It's nice that their doing something so people can see the park and then come back."
Another visitor who made the firework display as a pitstop before heading to a gig in Manchester said: "We're going to see Apollo and we thought this would be a nice place start, and we just love fireworks.
"This is the first time at the park, I wanna come during the day time so we can see it properly, it's nice."
Gemma Vaughn from Escape to Freight Island said: "We were really excited to be partnering with the park for one of their first big events. We sold out within a matter of days so obviously there's a massive demand for the Mayfield regeneration area.
"We had around 2,000 people across Freight Island and the park. We gave a load of free tickets to residents so it was a mix of paid for guests and freebies."
