Thousands gather in Paisley as popular CarFest event returns

Car enthusiasts of all ages gathered in Paisley's town centre at the weekend as the annual CarFest event motored back into town.

Thousands of people turned up to enjoy the event – which is now in its fifth year – on Saturday, with dozens of custom vehicles on show as well as muscle cars, super cars and motorbikes.

There was even the world-famous Ghostbusters car which proved a hit with car and movie fans of all ages as well as emergency response cars and a vintage fire engine too.

As well as treats for motor enthusiasts, there was plenty of free family-friendly fun with a face painter and a balloon modeller entertaining children, as well as a children’s grand prix and children’s bumper cars, giving the wee ones a chance to get behind the wheel of their favourite supercars.

The Piazza shopping centre also hosted an impressive giant Scalextric too, powered by bikes.

The event is organised by Bill’s Automotive Detailing and Paisley First, with chair Colette Cardosi hailing the success of CarFest for another year.

She said: ”Paisley’s CarFest has always been a favourite in our calendar of events and this year did not disappoint!

“With fabulous cars on display, free kids activities and entertainment and, of course, our town centre market, there really was something for everyone.

“We’re grateful to all the owners for bringing such an amazing range of vehicles, and of course to the local community who turned out in their thousands to support the event and our town centre businesses.

“We can’t wait until next year to do it all over again!”
