Thorniewood United boss Jamie Nesbitt is delighted to have secured promotion for next season, but has set his side a target of finishing third in the West of Scotland League Conference B.
The first hurdle in the way of that aim is a trip to Cambuslang Rangers on trophy day, but Nesbitt says he hopes they can take points as the hosts party.
Viewpark club Thorniewood secured their promotion with a 4-0 win at Glasgow United on Saturday, and Nesbitt said: “I’m delighted. On Saturday we knew that was it, nobody could catch us that was below us, after we won that game.
“The focus now is to set ourselves a wee target of trying to get third place.
“I don’t know where that leaves us, but everybody’s telling me that’s us in the First Division.
“If it is, that’s unbelievable. What I’ve told the boys is third place gets you there, so go and get it.
Nesbitt added: “It will be really tough with the games we’ve got left, nothing in that division is a gimme, but we were set a target of getting a promotion and we’ve hit that target, well and truly.
“I’m hoping Cambuslang will be partying. I watched them at Shettleston a few weeks ago, spoke to [co-boss] Paul McColl, and said I hope we have it tied up by the time we play them.
“They’re a top club, with a top squad and top players, so it will be really tough for us to win, but we’ll be giving it our all.”
