Thornhill celebrated in the sun on Saturday with a memorable gala day following a busy week of events organised by the hard working committee of volunteers.
It began with the riders setting off for the traditional morning ride-out and they returned to receive their trophies.
Thornhill Bowling Club hosted target bowls and a coffee morning, while fancy dress entrants and the floats gathered at the community centre for judging.
It paved the way for the gala parade itself led by Buccleuch and Queensberry Caledonia Pipe Band, with Gala Quee, Olivia Templeton – supported by the royal retinue of attendants Amelia Smith and Milly Nicholson and page boy Jamie Woods – heading the floats, decorated vehicles and walkers, who were cheered on by the gathered crowds lining the route.
