Thomas Tuchel has been urged to change his mind over signing Cristiano Ronaldo. Chelsea were heavily linked with a move for the Manchester United forward this summer as he looks set to leave the club.
It comes as the Blues look to renew their options in the forward line during the transfer window. Raheem Sterling has already joined to remedy the side’s goal scoring woes heading into the next campaign.
In terms of outgoings, Romelu Lukaku has already made the loan return to Inter Milan, while the likes of Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic and Timo Werner continue to be linked with moves away. More work is expected of the Blues in the window though as the squad rebuild continues.

Raphinha was another option for the side, with a bid accepted by Leeds, however the Brazilian held out to secure a dream switch to Barcelona instead. Serge Gnabry was another name on the table, however the former Arsenal man now looks set to sign a new long-term deal with Bayern Munich.
Cristiano Ronaldo has also been the subject of talks over a move to Stamford Bridge. The 37-year-old is eyeing a move away from Old Trafford and owner Todd Boehly discussed a switch with agent Jorge Mendes.
However, the transfer is said to have been shut down by Tuchel, who would prefer to not sign the Portugal international. This has led to former Arsenal favourite Paul Merson calling for the manager to reconsider.
As part of his Daily Star column, he said: “Chelsea won’t finish higher than third next season unless they sign a world-class striker. And it is why they should change their mind on Cristiano Ronaldo because he is one player ideally suited to fill the role still on the market.”
It would be a surprise if the German coach does go back on that decision, however there are plenty of twists and turns left in the transfer market.
