Thomas Tuchel was reportedly left "totally shocked" after he was sacked as Chelsea boss on a brutal 10-minute phone call in which he pleaded to be given a second chance.
The German coach was relieved of his duties on Wednesday morning following Chelsea's third straight away defeat, this time at the hands of Dinamo Zagreb in their opening Champions League Group E fixture.
Tuchel appeared devoid of ideas as he watched a drab Blues display in Croatia on Tuesday night before admitting "everything is missing" from the club at the moment as he pointed the finger of blame firmly in his own direction.
According to The Sun, Tuchel turned up to Chelsea's Cobham training ground this Wednesday to give his players a dressing down following the Champions League display.
But there was no one to greet him when he arrived and he was instead ordered to attend a conference call with the Chelsea hierarchy.
The call latest 10 minutes in which Tuchel pleaded not to be sacked and to be given a second chance to turn things around.
But his pleas fell on deaf ears with new owner Todd Boehly wielding the axe and relieving the German of his duties.

Tuchel was said to have been left "totally shocked" by the decision before he set about collecting his belongings, saying his goodbyes and exiting the complex.
Chelsea then released the following statement on their official website.
"On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, the Club would like to place on record its gratitude to Thomas and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the Club.
"Thomas will rightly have a place in Chelsea's history after winning the Champions League, the Super Cup and Club World Cup in his time here.
"As the new ownership group reaches 100 days since taking over the Club, and as it continues its hard work to take the club forward, the new owners believe it is the right time to make this transition.
"Chelsea's coaching staff will take charge of the team for training and the preparation of our upcoming matches as the Club moves swiftly to appoint a new head coach.
"There will be no further comment until a new head coach appointment is made."
Brighton boss Graham Potter is the current favourite to replace Tuchel in the Chelsea hot seat and has been granted permission by his club to talk to the Blues.
