Thomas Tuchel's honest transfer chat with PSG star sends Levi Colwill fresh Chelsea warning

Levi Colwill faces an increasingly uncertain future at Chelsea, with Thomas Tuchel in the market for defensive reinforcements this summer. The 19-year-old defender has been heavily linked with an exit from Stamford Bridge following an incredibly impressive season-long loan at Huddersfield Town.

The Cobham graduate, who sees his contract with the west Londoners expire in 2025, featured 29 times for the Terriers in the Championship, booking Carlos Corberán's side a raffle ticket for promotion into the top-flight. Unfortunately for Colwill, Huddersfield fell at the final hurdle but it's said that Chelsea are very impressed with his development nonetheless.

football.london understand that he'll be assessed by Tuchel in pre-season. But, the Blues boss is under growing pressure to solve Colwill's future sooner rather than later due to great interest from several Premier League clubs.

According to The Athletic, if Chelsea sign one more defender this summer then the youngster will look to leave Stamford Bridge before the window slams shut. And, while the optimist in Colwill's entourage will see a pathway into the first-team, the pessimist could view Tuchel's honest chat with Moussa Diaby three-years ago at Paris Saint-Germain as a warning.

In 2019, Diaby was regarded as one of Europe's hottest prospects after earning his stripes in the PSG academy. He was seen as the French giant's 'next big thing', though he faced tough competition from Kylian Mbappe and Neymar for valuable game time.

And, after conversing with Tuchel, Diaby was persuaded to leave PSG. Speaking at his official unveiling as a Bayer Leverkusen player, the France international said of the Chelsea boss: "He encouraged me to move to the Bundesliga and join Leverkusen. He said it would be a great decision and that I'd learn a lot there."

With many Blues fans excited by the emergence of Colwill and eager to see the youngster prosper in the first-team, Tuchel's chat with Diaby could come as a major blow. The defender has a lot to offer the west Londoners this season, but if the German has another conversation of a similar ilk then he could face the same fate - pushed out of his childhood club.
