Thomas Tuchel says the form of Cesar Azpilicueta and N'Golo Kante will ensure he sleeps well ahead of Sunday's Carabao Cup final against Liverpool.
The Blues head to Wembley looking to claim their third trophy of the season. Yet their task will not be an easy one with Jurgen Klopp's side in fine form.
Tuchel made the Reds slight favourites ahead of the contest, although he is insistent there will be no inferior complex for Chelsea, who are unbeaten in the last three meetings between the sides.
Chelsea will make the short trip to north London will an almost fully fit squad. Ben Chilwell (knee) is expected to be the only absentee with Reece James, Mateo Kovacic, Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi all back in training after respective injuries and knocks.
Yet it is Tuchel's confidence in two of Chelsea's more experienced players that he says will enable him to arrive at Wembley well-rested.
"To have players in your squad like Azpi and N’Golo, who take care that matches like this are won, who have the experience to win it and what it takes, is so important," the German coach said yesterday.
"It gives you genuine belief and you can’t substitute this with anything else. Not talk, the video [analysis], not anything.
"So I am, at the moment, happy. N’Golo found his form again after some struggles in recent games; he was good against Crystal Palace and was brilliant against Lille. He was the key player he is for us.
"It makes a manager sleep well before important matches when [a player like] N’Golo is in good shape, and Azpi, the captain, is in good shape. It’s a good sign."
Since the arrival of Tuchel a little over a year ago, Chelsea have reached the final of every cup competition they have entered.
Three of those have ended with a trophy – the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and Club World Cup. The other was last season's FA Cup in which the Blues were beaten at Wembley by Leicester CIty.
It'd led to many hailing Chelsea are a cup side that only step up for the big occasions. And while some supporters have taken umbrage with that claim, Tuchel believes it is a compliment.
"I like it if we're seen like this and regarded like this," Tuchel said. "In the end, it's an appreciation that we are competitive, that we know what it takes to reach finals first of all, because it's always a long way to go, always a tough way to go, and always necessary to take it step by step.
"All this is included if you reach a final. So there is a lot of appreciation in it. Of course, we can't hide from the fact reaching a final and winning a final is a whole different thing. And even if you know it before that there must be a loser, you don't want to be that team.
"Are we at the beginning of a process to translate this into a league campaign? Yes, we are. And still, it's not like we are hugely underperforming from where we came from a year ago.
"We should also allow ourselves to not be too negative about being in third place at the moment and playing in these different competitions at the same time. There are an awful lot of positive things in this development and there are so many good things to build on.
"So we shouldn't turn it around and say, 'yeah, this is a cup team, a tournament team, not a league team'. This isn't true, I don't believe it. If people want to look at it like this, then fair enough, it's their opinion. But while everyone has their opinion, we can be focused on what we are doing and that is taking care on the process every day."
