Chelsea have turned their attention to pursuing a deal to sign Leicester City centre-back Wesley Fofana this summer. The Blues missed out on Jules Kounde, who has now agreed a deal to join Barcelona, with Thomas Tuchel desperate to bring in at least one more central defender.
Talks between Chelsea and Fofana's entourage have been held this week, football.london understands. Personal terms with the 21-year-old are not expected to be an issue. However, it's striking a deal with Leicester that could prove a stumbling block.
Fofana put pen-to-paper on a new contract extension in March, with the Frenchman's deal at the King Power Stadium now not due to expire until the summer of 2027. This puts Leicester in a really strong position, meaning there is no immediate rush whatsoever to sanction the sale of the highly-rated defender.
