Welcome to our football.london CareFree Chelsea daily news round-up. Maybe not the first, we've definitely done transfer round-ups before, and European round-ups, so I guess in some ways it's not that new at all.
Chelsea could bid for Dembele in the summer
Barcelona are apparently looking at terminating Ousmane Dembele’s contract early according to The Express. The report states that although the winger's contract ends in the summer Barca are looking at cutting ties with him earlier than that.
This could open up an avenue for Chelsea who have been linked with the French international to sign him in the summer transfer window. The Catalan club are said to be ‘desperate’ to offload the player who is on the fringes of play at the club.
Our take: It’s very clear that Barca don't want the player and Chelsea could try to get a good deal for the ex Borussia Dortmund wide player in June.
Tuchel draws up summer transfer list
The Athletic have reported that Thomas Tuchel has drawn up a transfer list for the summer and it includes some names that Chelsea have been heavily linked with in the past year.
The three names which the report name are midfielders Declan Rice, Aurelian Tchouameni and centre-back Jules Kounde who all are on Tuchel’s shortlist for Marina Granovskaia to tackle come June.
Our take: All three names will be familiar with Chelsea fans who know that Chelsea need to strengthen numbers and quality at the back and the middle of the pitch.
Brighton left-back eyed
Chelsea submitted two late bids for Derby County left-back, Zak Sturge according to Goal’s Nizaar Kinsella who tweeted, “Understand Chelsea had two late bids rejected for Brighton’s 17-year-old left-back Zak Sturge.
“Having turned down a Seagulls contract in December, he is likely to leave for Europe when his deal expires in the summer. Leverkusen and Wolfsburg are reportedly interested.”
Our take: Chelsea are of course on the hunt for a left-back after losing Ben Chilwell to an injury and Marcos Alonso having to fill in as a result. But Malang Sarr can also play in that position so it’s not a huge loss on this particular deal.
