Thomas Tuchel has provided three reasons why he wanted to sign Raheem Sterling from Manchester City this summer and admits he was 'not surprised' that Pep Guardiola wanted to do business.
Having entered the final year of his contract, Sterling was keen to secure a new challenge after seven years at the Etihad Stadium and Chelsea came calling for his signature. It cost Tuchel around £50million to land the England star and Sterling confirmed the move when penning an open letter to City supporters.
Sterling could yet be followed to Stamford Bridge by Nathan Ake as Chelsea go after defensive signings. However, amid ongoing links with Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and other possible recruits, there was only one main priority for the German this summer.
