Thomas Muller not convinced by idea of Bayern Munich completing Sadio Mane transfer

Thomas Muller is not convinced by speculation linking Liverpool star Sadio Mane with a move to Bayern Munich this summer.

Mane admitted he intends to announce his plans for the future after Saturday's Champions League final against Real Madrid and it has got some Reds fans worried. The 30-year-old has netted 23 goals in 50 appearances across all competitions this season - Liverpool's second-highest scorer behind Mohamed Salah.

However, the Senegal international is out of contract in 2023 and reports suggest he is keen on a new challenge away from Anfield, with Bayern and Real Madrid both interested in the player. He has been a revelation for the Reds since signing for £34million from Southampton in 2016, scoring over 100 goals in the process.

Bayern have supposedly held talks with Mane's representatives and are hoping to make him their big summer addition as they try and challenge for more titles next term. Despite the reported transfer links, Muller is not having any of the speculation and does not want to speak about it.

"If every rumoured player joined us, we would have ended up with a 45-man squad every year," Muller said via BILD. "I’m going to show up in Säbener Straße [Bayern’s training ground] at the beginning of July and see who else is there."

The German side could be in for a major rebuild in the attacking department this summer with Robert Lewandowski expected to leave the club and join Barcelona. Meanwhile, wingers Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane have both been linked with moves away.

But Muller is someone who will stop at Bayern after he agreed to extend his contract until 2024, which will keep him at his boyhood club until he is 34. He has made over 600 appearances for the club so far and has helped them win many trophies and titles, including the Champions League.

Asked why he chose to stay with Bayern, he told TZ: "That’s a simple answer, because I have everything I enjoy here in professional soccer. I can’t judge what it’s like elsewhere.

"But here I definitely know that I’m playing for titles – both nationally and internationally. We’ve won a lot of championships over the past ten to 15 years and have always played for Europe’s crown. Accordingly, the conditions on the sporting side are super and by no means boring

"I have it in my mind to play at the top level until 2025. Whether that will happen, I don’t know. But that’s the game plan. That hasn’t changed."
