Thomas Frank tells Erik ten Hag to do three things to help Manchester United beat Man City in FA Cup final

Brentford boss Thomas Frank says a low block, high pressure and maximising set-pieces are the key to achieving a result against Manchester City ahead of their FA Cup final with Manchester United on Saturday.

The Bees became the only team to do the double over City this season thanks to their final day 1-0 win over the Premier League champions. They are also the only team to beat the Blues at the Etihad all campaign, winning 2-1 back in November.

United themselves beat City at Old Trafford when goals from Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford securing a 2-1 win in January - a very different game to the 6-3 defeat at the Etihad in October.

On Sunday, Brentford manager Frank was asked what advice he would give to United boss Erik ten Hag and Inter manager Simone Inzaghe ahead of the FA Cup and Champions League finals against treble-hunting City next month.

He laughed: "That's a really good question. You've thought about that, that's really good!" before adding: "I think we top-performed in two games.

“It is very clear this is the best offensive team in the world so you need to defend very well. We managed to defend very well but not only in the low block, I think you could see today we were brave with high pressure throughout the game.

“I think that's a big thing. I think if you only defend with a low block, you will struggle. That braveness, which I love about my team, I love that. Set pieces are also pretty important."

United are without Lisandro Martinez for the trip to Wembley but could have Antony back in time for the showpiece. Meanwhile, City have a number of injuries concerns.

Kevin De Bruyne was unfit to play against Brentford while Ruben Dias, Jack Grealish and Manuel Akanji are all doubts after missing the last two matches.
