Here are the best family-friendly streaming choices this week.
On Netflix
The first season of new animated series “Kid Cosmic,” from animation vet Craig McCracken, dropped on Netflix Tuesday. McCracken is known for his work on “The Powerpuff Girls” and “Dexter’s Laboratory,” so expect that kind of witty, irreverent and stylized animation for this tale of a kid in a desert town who dreams of being a superhero.
On HBO Max
Introduce your kids to a childhood classic with the 1985 kid adventure movie “The Goonies” (rated PG), now on HBO Max.
The newest Studio Ghibli animated film, “Earwig and the Witch,” arrives on the streaming service Friday. The story follows an orphan adopted by a witch who finds her spooky home filled with magic and mystery. Rated PG for some scary images and rude material.
On Disney+
The Disney Channel original series “Upside-Down Magic” is now available to stream on Disney+. Fill the Potter-sized hole in your heart with this series about life at the Sage Academy for Magical Studies, where they teach upside-down magic.
On Peacock
More animated classics are now available on Peacock. Watch the delightful 2000 Aardman Animation film “Chicken Run” (rated G) or the 1998 animated film “Prince of Egypt” (Rated PG for intense depiction of thematic elements), which boasts the Oscar-winning song “When You Believe,” famously recorded as a duet by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.
