The countdown to the holidays is on, and the newly dawned month of December has plenty of fresh Spotlight Hours and Raid Bosses in store. In the first full week of the month, there’s a lot going on right away – especially on the weekend. Find out what’s coming up in Pokémon GO during the week of December 5-11, 2022 in our weekly preview here.
Mythic Blade: Start
Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022, starting at 10 a.m. local time
In Mythic Blade, the Pokémon Crabrawler appears in the game for the first time, along with paid Special Research with the legendary Pokémon Keldeo. The event will continue until December 11, 2022 at 8 p.m. local time. The focus is on Fighting-type Pokémon, which you’ll encounter in large numbers in the wild, raids, and as rewards for completing field research tasks. Get all the details on the official website.
Spotlight Hour: Wooper
Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022, from 6 to 7 p.m. local time
Wooper is of course not exactly a Legendary Pokémon. Nevertheless, the Spotlight Hour with this little creature does have some positives about it: you can find the Shiny version during the event, and its evolution is actually quite useful in some PvP scenarios.
During the one-hour time slot, you’ll get double stardust for catching Pokémon, which is another great bonus.
Raid Hour: Virizion
Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022, from 6 to 7 p.m. local time
The Ultra Beasts are history, at least for now: Virizion is currently already available as a boss in the Level 5 Raids as the first Sword of Justice, and accordingly takes the lead role in the first Raid Hour of the month. All Legendaries released in December are available as Shiny Pokémon, so happy hunting!
GO Battle League: Great League and Fighting Cup: GL Edition Remix
Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022, starting at 1 p.m. PT
The now traditional opening duo of Great League and Great League Remix kicked off the new season of GO Battle League. The Great League will remain available in Week 2, but its sidekick will be replaced. In the Fighting Cup: Great League Edition Remix (that just rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it?), only Fighting-type Pokémon with a strength of up to 1,500 competition points (CP) that are not of the Psychic-type are allowed to participate. In addition, four popular Pokémon are locked out:
- Hakamo-o
- Kommo-o
- Buzzwole
- Sneasler
Something Extraordinary: Keldeo Special Research
Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, starting at 10 a.m. local time
The fourth member of the Swords of Justice, Keldeo, is not available as a level 5 raid boss. Instead, Niantic is bringing the Legendary into the game as part of a paid Special Research. You read that right: It will cost you 7.99 USD to unlock the quest for this unicorn. If you have purchased a ticket, you have to open Pokémon GO between December 10 at 10 a.m. and December 11 at 8 p.m. local time to get the research. This can then be completed without a time limit.
Elite Raids
Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, at 11 a.m., 2 p.m., and 5 p.m. local time
The introduction of Elite Raids has caused mixed feelings among trainers, but the feature seems to be mutating into a regular guest on the event calendar. It is not yet known which boss you will face in these exceedingly difficult challenges.
One thing is for sure: you’ll need a very large group of fellow players to come out on top.
