I'm that person who loves perfume, make-up, skincare and styling my wavy hair with multiple products. Between that and applying various lotions and potions in a multi-step, twice-daily skincare routine, that's a lot of bottles to house on my vanity.
Overwhelmed by my vast collection, I went searching for a solution, and the alarming accuracy of my TikTok For-you-page meant it was quickly filled with videos of that fluted, viral tiered organizer, also available on Amazon for less than $20. Between its cute retro look, stable spin, and ample space, it's my best storage buy of the year.
Now my vanity space is functional and decluttered, and all my products are right there for the taking instead of scattered around my closet, drawers, and bathroom. And, professional organizers say this tiered organizer is brilliantly transformative; working in harmony with your make-up vanity ideas.
Adjustable height
This is the item I have for my vanity and it's perfection. It doesn't wobble, take up too much vanity space and with three layers, you can alter the design to sit at different heights. I stack my morning items on the front, evening items in the back and spin as needed, making getting ready for the day, or bed, a cinch.
Why I love this tiered organizer
When I saw this tiered organizer used as a beauty product storage idea repeatedly on TikTok, I loved the spin function, the seemingly quick assembly and various colorways, so I decided to give it a go. The price point was reasonable too so I figured if I didn't like it, I'd donate or recycle it to be more sustainable at home.
My vanity is 35 inches wide by 18 deep, and this circular tiered organizer 8.5 inches wide. It leaves plenty of room for my gold ornate mirror which I bought from eBay because I love the Gleaming Primrose Anthropologie Mirror but wanted something narrower, as well as my red lamp for nighttime skincare. It's a brilliant product and makeup organizer.
Before I bought this tiered organizer, I had a slimline one on wheels that was at floor level next to my vanity. It didn't have too much space, and the narrow nature meant it was not very stable, especially since all the items I needed daily had to be on the top tier to save my back, as I suffer with chronic pain all over my body. Plus, my bedroom is carpeted and the wheels didn't roll easily.
Why experts say this tiered organizer is so good
I love everything about it, from its quick and easy assembly, the sturdy spin function that doesn't rattle or wobble, and the small surface area it takes up – and professional organizer, Ashley Hines of Thee Tailored Life agrees.
She says, 'This is a fantastic find and well worth trying, thanks to its attractive and versatile design. Its easy spin functionality ensures that all your essentials are readily accessible, while its efficient use of vertical storage maximizes space without taking up too much room. The organizer fits perfectly in a corner of your bathroom counter or vanity, making it both a practical and stylish solution for keeping your beauty and self-care products neatly arranged and within reach.'
When exploring home organizing ideas, professional organizer, Ashley says a lack of storage for products is a common vanity area problem.
She explains, 'There is usually a need to access various items here, but difficulty in seeing everything at once, and optimizing limited space for everyday essentials can be challenging. Additionally, items may expire because they are out of sight, as all personal care products have a recommended shelf life.'
I certainly had products I kept forgetting about despite spending decent money on them, including expensive wavy hair styling items and perfumes.
Who might love it too
If you have lots of products, want it all within reach, and are happy to give up a little of your vanity's surface space, this is truly worth a try.
Ashley adds, 'Perfect for a variety of individuals, including those on a budget, renters, and anyone planning a remodel. The great price point makes it an affordable solution, while its compact design is ideal for smaller areas. People who thrive with visible storage will appreciate the easy access to their beauty and self-care products, which the organizer can accommodate in abundance. This versatile and stylish organizer caters to anyone looking to enhance their space without breaking the bank.'
It also comes in clear, taupe, and gray, ideal for working with most room color ideas – it's also great for small bedroom storage ideas, too.
How to arrange products on a tiered organizer
I stacked my tall items on the bottom row or on the top, and organized things by the time of day I'd need it. All my morning items are on the front, and evening items on the back, so I simply spin to get everything I need to get started on my day, or to wind down and get ready for bed.
I also popped a three-cubby makeup brush organizer in the lower shelf to declutter my makeup items, and so I wouldn't have to keep pushing my chair back to open my drawers to grab my long brushes mid-makeup.
Pro organizer Ashley advises categorizing your products by size and type to ensure functionality and aesthetic appeal. She adds, 'Having a size hierarchy helps with visibility and accessibility so place your largest volume items at the bottom for stability.' I've placed my tubs of hair gel and body moisturizer exactly as Ashley describes.
She goes on, 'Arrange medium-sized products in the middle, balancing the structure and ensuring they are within reach, and smaller items on the top shelves, using the available space and keeping the display organized.'
When categorizing your products, Ashley says to create a visually appealing and highly functional organization system that makes finding and accessing products effortless. She recommends the decluttering tip of grouping your items into:
- Body care: All body lotions, oils, and scrubs should be grouped. This category could also include body washes and soaps.
- Face care: Place face creams, cleansers, toners, and serums in one section, creating a dedicated space for skincare routines.
- Hair care: Organize shampoos, conditioners, hair oils, and styling products in another area, ensuring all hair-related items are easily accessible.
- Health and wellness: Include vitamins, supplements, and other wellness products.
- Beauty and makeup: Arrange makeup products like foundations, lipsticks.
Alternative tiered organizers to shop
If you love the idea and think a tiered organizer will work well to solve your storage problem, but don't like the look of mine, here are some more options to consider.
Spacious
Though originally marketed for vegetables in the kitchen, this tiered bamboo organizer will work beautifully in a more rustic style bedroom or vanity space. Shoppers say it's sturdy. You can add shelf liners cut down to size to stop any thin brushes or products falling through.
Sliding drawers
Available in a single or double pack, grab this sliding drawer organizer in black or white to supercharge your vanity storage. It has a convenient grab handle on the lower drawer for easy sliding, and a side caddy to stash your brushes or Q-Tips.
Staggered shelves
I like the staggered layers of this tiered organizer, allowing space for varying heights and dimension of products to be neatly stored away. The railing will stop things falling off, even small lipsticks, whilst the gaps in the design make it an unobtrusive storage solution visually.
