Three Malayalis play a hand in India's historic Thomas Cup win

KOCHI: Indian shuttlers have always made a mark on the international stage with their individual brilliance right from the time Prakash Padukone clinched the All England Championship in 1980. But as a country and as a team, India have never had it so good as their demolition of 14-time champions Indonesia to win their maiden Thomas Cup title at the Impact Arena in Bangkok exemplifies. And playing a pivotal role in that historic triumph were three Malayalis -- HS Prannoy, Arjun M R and U Vimal Kumar.
