This Off-Road Racer Is Selling Her Race-Spec UTV To Help a Children's Cancer Charity

In 2022, Gray Leadbetter became the first woman to win the AMSOIL Championship Off-Road ‘Pro Class Championship.’ That same year, she became an ambassador for the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation (NPCF), donating 10% of her annual sponsorship dollars to the charity.

Leadbetter, a self-taught professional racer who has competed in everything from motocross to Americas Rallycross and sprint cars, has regularly appeared on Travis Pastrana’s YouTube channel, Channel 199, sending it in everything from side-by-sides to trophy trucks.

In an effort to raise both awareness and money for the NPCF, Leadbetter has partnered with DirtHammer, a dedicated OHV auction site lead by a team of off-road enthusiasts, to sell her race-spec 2024 Can-Am Maverick X3 built by Can-Am Factory Racing Dakar Rally driver, Kyle Chaney.

Designed to compete in the ‘Pro Spec Class’ at the AMSOIL Championship Off-Road, Kyle Chaney built Leadbetter’s Maverick X3 to the same specifications as his own 2023 championship-winning Can-Am.

As someone who knows what it takes to put a Can-Am on a podium – a four-time UTV Hammers Champion at King of the Hammers, and the first driver to ever win the 4400 Unlimited Class race in a UTV – Chaney started with a custom chassis, and then outfitted Leadbetter’s X3 with suspension by CT Raceworx and Double E Racing, Hayes brakes, Vision beadlock wheels, and a Sparco full containment seat and five-point harness, along with a VP Racing UTV96 Fuel tune, among other things.

“I am super excited to be partnering with DirtHammer on getting this car auctioned off. Not only is it a fully race ready Can-Am, they gave me the opportunity to partner with NPCF—I’ve been involved with them for close to five years now and there’s truly nothing like it. From the fashion shows to the research, it all means so much. Every kid deserves the chance to just be a kid, and this auction is a way to help make that happen. I'm really proud to be a part of it and be able to use this auction as a way to help donate to the cause,” Leadbetter said.

The National Pediatric Cancer Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to eliminating childhood cancer. Since 2005, NCPF and The Sunshine Project have contributed more than $50 million to clinical trials and transitional studies. And while Leadbetter already donates 10% of her sponsorship earnings to the foundation, the proceeds of this auction will add to that total.

The charity auction begins on April 6, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. EST and will close on April 20, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. EST. You can view the auction listing on DirtHammer.
