This Northumberland route is the second most Instagrammable dog walk in the UK

A Northumberland route has been identified as being the second most Instagrammable dog walk in the whole of the UK.

It'll come as little surprise to those who've visited it that the beautiful Allen Banks and Staward Gorge route is the recipient of the accolade.

The research was carried out by dog-friendly letting specialist, Canine Cottages, and based on the number of hashtags on Instagram in the last six months.

Also on its top 10 list were two other spots just a car ride away from the North East - Staithes and Port Mulgrave at the North Yorkshire Moors and Derwentwater and Cat Bells in the Lake District.

The research comes at a time when searches for ‘big dog walks’ and ‘dog walking near me’ has increased by 250% and 300% in the last year as Brits up and down the country are searching for new routes to take their canine companion.

The St Agnes Beacon and Wheal Coates circular walk came out on top as Britain’s most Instagrammable dog walk, with over 127,000 posts on Instagram in the past six months!

The three mile walk in Cornwall offered beautiful scenery of the coastline and heather fields, and takes you to the fascinating Wheal Coates tin mine too.

Then came Allen Banks and Steward Gorge on National Trust property with 21,111 posts in the last six months.

The 2.5-mile trail takes you along a stunning gorge and through woodland paths with lots of wildlife.

Third on the list is Pen y Fan and Corn Du circular walk, located in Powys, South Wales, with 13,720 posts in the last six months. Pen Y Fan is the tallest peak in the Brecon Beacons National Park, measuring 886m above sea level, and this walking path stretches for four miles.

Shannon Keary, Digital PR Manager at Canine Cottages said: “Dog walking is one of Brits’ favourite pastimes, made even better when the walks are as beautiful as these ones right on British shores.

"Our list of the most Instagrammable dog walks will hopefully help inspire you to take a trip to one of these amazing walks with your dog, snapping Insta-worthy pics along the way.”
