A beautiful sofa is one thing; a beautiful sofa that provides your living room with an extra level of practicality is the dream. So, I always get excited when I see a sofa that incorporates storage into it somehow.
Enter the Delta 5 Modular Sofa from King Living, a sofa that's bold and confident in its design, flexible in its seating style, and holds secret compartments for hidden storage.
If you're unfamiliar with King Living as somewhere to buy a sofa, the Australian luxury furniture brand made its London debut a handful of years ago, and it has since pleased the many design enthusiasts who have their ears on the ground for the arrival of global interior labels.
The Livingetc team had already been down to the central showroom by Tottenham Court Road to do their testing for the best King Living sofas before the release of the Delta 5, but editor Hugh Metcalf popped back to run this one through its paces, too. Here's an idea of what to expect.
"While the Delta Coast sofa is more of a soft, deep, sink-into style, the Delta5 Storage is a little more structured and architectural," Hugh tells me. "It's got such a cool, graphic silhouette and sharp lines, so with that, you're getting more of a medium-feel seat. It's not super firm, by any stretch of the imagination, but a nice Goldilocks — somewhere in the middle."
"The storage is super easy to open, and stays open if you need to organize inside, without holding it up yourself. The back is adjustable to different levels of reclining, and it's a generous seat for a 6'4" man such as myself."
Living in a studio myself, I make furniture decisions based on whether they make the space less or more hardworking. And this sofa goes beyond to make the latter come true. The pull-up cushion reveals hidden storage for extra pillows, throws, or even just items that might look like clutter when guests are around. And it doesn't compromise on comfort, unlike some storage sofas that fight against your desire to sink in. It is truly a forever sofa, and the 25-year frame warranty relays just that.

From the mobile headrest to the gently curved structure to the durable fabric and its contemporary take on a classic silhouette, there's so much to say about King Living's Delta 5. But for now, I'm especially taken by the hidden storage.
