This Morning viewers swoon as Dr Scott whips his shirt off in Costa Rica

ITV viewers were left hot under the collar during This Morning, as Dr Scott Miller whipped off his shirt on the programme during a Costa Rica travel segment.

The Australian TV presenter was sent on an “exotic mission” by the daytime programme to discover the incredible animals in North and South America.

Ahead of the segment, host Dermot O’Leary told viewers: “Today he’s continuing his adventure in Costa Rica, where he’s heading out to the Pacific Ocean to encounter some humpback whales.”

Sitting alongside co-host Alison Hammond, he then added: “Unbelievable, this guy!”

As Dr Scott’s aquatic animals of the Americas segment got underway, the TV vet said: “When life first began on earth, it started in the sea nearly four billion years ago.”

Dr Scott then appeared on screen on a boat out at sea with his shirt noticeably missing, saying: “Today I’m heading underwater to discover all the creatures that lie beneath the waves.”

The TV presenter then turned away from the camera in his swim shorts to dive into the sea from a boat.

As Dr Scott travelled through mangrove forests and then went whale spotting, many viewers were left slightly distracted by his scantily-clad appearance and took to Twitter to comment.

One wrote: “Oh my word…” as another added: “Dr Scott AGAIN” alongside heart-eye emojis.

A third added: “Ok yeah yeah! Just get ya top off Dr Scott please,” while another cheeky social media user wrote: “Dr Scott can get in my basket!”

Elsewhere on the Monday morning programme, Dermot was forced to correct Alison as the pair hosted the show during Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield’s Easter break.

Dermot and Alison kicked off the show with a chat over the day’s headlines alongside guests Gyles Brandreth and Beverley Turner.

Alison, 47, turned the conversation to Helen MacNamara, a former Whitehall ethics chief, who has reportedly been fined by the Metropolitan Police in connection with a party held during lockdown.

The ex-deputy cabinet secretary was handed a £50 fine after police investigators found she had breached Covid laws by attending a lockdown karaoke party where she provided a karaoke machine, reports claim.

Alison noted that she “just can’t believe” that the karaoke machine was hers, before co-host Dermot had to interject quickly to qualify that it was “reportedly” hers.

He added: “We don’t know for sure,” after which Alison stopped, saying: “Oh, is it reportedly?” and glanced down at her notes.

She continued: “Well, it’s a karaoke machine. She’s been fined £50, but if you remember rightly a lot of people were fined £10,000 at the time.”

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV and ITV Hub.
