This Morning viewers fume over 'one rule' as Holly Willoughby confirms 'break' for popular show segment

This Morning viewers were left fuming about a 'rule' placed during one particular moment in the show as Holly Willoughby confirmed a 'break' for the popular segment. The presenter was back fronting the ITV daytime show on Thursday (June 22) alongside Dermot O'Leary.

The pair have hosted the show together for the last two weeks after Dermot confirmed he would be stepping in to co-host alongside Holly following Phillip Schofield's shock exit. And they had another busy show on their hands before Dermot reunites with Alison Hammond for the usual Friday stint on the famous sofa.

But as ever, there was a game of Spin To Win added to the mix with the game seeing those viewers who have entered tasked with saying just one phrase when This Morning called them, which allows them to win huge cash prizes by either spinning the giant wheel dropped into the studio or spinning the tombola balls.

However, Holly's frustrations appeared to be echoed by viewers today as the game didn't go to plan. Opening the segment, Dermot and Holly cheerily explained the rules. "There are loads of cash prizes up for grabs and you get to choose whether you would like to spin the wheel or my balls," Holly, 42, started.

"Quick reminder of the rules for you and me," added Dermot, 50, before saying: "If your phone rings, you need to remember to only say today's passphrase - nothing else." Holly went on to explain: "If you get it right, you get the chance to play. Shall we do this? Let's do this."

The pair went on to start the game and attempted to call one viewer as Holly said: "Come on, is that your phone, don't be shy, pick it up!" However, Irene failed to correctly say the passphrase leaving the presenters disappointed as they apologised.

"I know, I didn't quite understand. There was like a delay, if they were watching the TV, why didn't they say the password?" asked Holly. And after more failed attempts, Holly and Dermot appeared optimistic as the phone continued to ring with the hopes of one viewer getting their hands on some cash.

But that didn't appear to go well either to which Holly replied: "Oh no, goodbye Gillian!" as the last caller answered saying "hello". Wrapping up the segment, Holly said: "No luck getting through today, so what we're going to do is spin it to you and this is going to be added to tomorrow's total."

A sum of £1000 was added, as Holly explained: "That's good, that'll make the jackpot £4,000," before she went on to say that the game won't actually be back for another two weeks' time. "There's quite a lot of admin that we should really be talking about off camera," quipped Dermot as Holly giggled.

This Morning viewers, meanwhile, were having their say on social media. @orchidfoxy tweeted: "How hard is it to follow 1 rule!! #thismorning." @Brekkietweets said: "If you enter #SpinToWin you should just put the phrase as your answer phone message #ThisMorning #ITVThisMorning." @Boppity_Boo34 added: "Saying hello and then no one answering why enter ffs lol #ITVThisMorning."
