This Morning viewers were forced to change channels after a cancer conversation "hit too close to home."
This Morning's agony aunt Deidre was back today to help callers with their personal problems. Today's segment was dedicated to those who have battled or are currently dealing with cancer after she announced her own diagnosis previously in the week.
Deidre told viewers that she was diagnosed with early on set cancer following a mammogram check. She urged women watching to contact their GP and arrange an appointment as, after the age of 70, they are no longer routinely offered the check. She said if it wasn't for her own well-being checks that her cancer would have gone unchecked until it was too late to treat.

During the phone-in, she offered callers her advice on the best way to tell family members and how to keep children from becoming scared and emotional. Dermot approved of Deidre's words as he said, after finding out his father had cancer when he was a teenager, everything she said was exactly what he too needed to hear at a young age.
A woman called in stating she has been sidestepping telling her children directly, leading to a sombre feel in the studio. On several occasions, Dermot looked visibly upset as the story hit close to home.
Viewers watching were also left uncomfortable at the unusually heavy topic of conversation with some forced to change the channel. One viewer said: "Nope bit too much for me this, brew time Sending love." Another added: "All the cancer talk is a bit too close to home, think I'll do the washing up instead."
A third viewer said: "#Deirdre doing a fantastic job raising awareness’ great respect and wishing her a swift recovery."
Deidre revealed that she has "a teeny, tiny carcinoma" – a cluster of malignant cells in a duct – in her right breast, and that it has been labelled as "high grade".
