Ruth Langsford briefly walked off This Morning on Thursday after 'secret' footage of her and Rylan Clark larking about during an ad break was shown to millions of viewers at home.
After lots of speculation that she would be making a surprise return to the daytime show, without husband Eamonn Holmes by her side, Ruth made her first This Morning appearance for quite some time on Monday, teaming up with Rylan, the man she calls her 'TV son,' having hosted with him before.
Within minutes of cameras rolling on the first episode of a new week, many viewers were calling for Ruth, now regularly seen as an anchor on Loose Women, to be reinstated on This Morning on a full time basis, after she and Eamonn lost their Friday hosting gig to Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary at the start of 2021. Other fans have loved Ruth and Rylan' s on-screen chemistry but it was something that went on behind the scenes that prompted Ruth's momentary walk-off on Thursday.

As the show returned from the adverts, both Ruth and Rylan were in fits of laughter, with Ruth, trying hard to regain composure telling people watching that Rylan had ben doing some 'Ronan Keating' impressions for her during the break, adding: "We love Ronan."
Rylan then explained: "If you watched the show yesterday...I just keep coming out with Ronan bursts, I don't know why," before turning to Ruth and remarking: "You're literally crying!"
Rylan's laughter quickly turned to panic when he received word of 'footage' from producers talking to him via an ear piece, shouting: "What footage? Have you been filming in the break?!" They certainly had and viewers at home got to see Rylan doing his best Ronan impression as the Irish singer's number 1 When You Say Nothing at All played in the studio.
As camera cuts back to Rylan and Ruth in real time, Ruth told her co-host: "I need to get a tissue, hang on," before walking off camera, leaving Rylan to deliver the next link. When Ruth returned to her seat, having dabbed her eyes she looked down the lens and said: "Now, Sensible Ruth."
