This Morning's Phillip Schofield brought dad 'back from dead' after terrifying collapse at home

This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield has recalled how he brought his father Brian 'back from the dead' after he collapsed at home.

As they fronted their last show together this week, Phillip and co-host Holly Willoughby were joined by former TOWIE and I'm A Celebrity star Mark Wright, who sat beside them in the studio to talk about the importance of everyone learning how to do CPR.

Mark has got involved with a campaign to heighten awareness of the life-saving move, having rushed to the aid of a fellow holidaymaker, when he was abroad with wife Michelle Keegan. Mark explained that, right as they were arriving at their hotel, he heard the panicked screams of a woman whose husband had suffered a cardiac arrest.

Noticing that no-one else, even hotel staff, rushed to help, Mark went to try and help and explained that he administered CPR in a id to get the stricken man's heart going again. Sadly, despite Mark's best efforts, the man sadly passed away but the Essex star was thanked by his daughter for doing all he could to try and save her dad's life.

After listening to an emotional Mark sharing his story on This Morning, Holly asked Phillip: "You brought your father back didn't you? Doing the same thing?"

Phillip explained: "Yeah, he collapsed when we lived in New Zealand...erm...and was certainly dead on the carpet. And the whole world went into some sort sort of sharp focus."

He continued: "I hadn't been trained, but I'd watched stuff on TV. My mum was running next door; the whole place was in panic, but I did that. Thankfully the ambulance was very quick; they came in, they did the defibrillator thing immediately and they brought him ack."

Phillip added that dad Brian went onto to have quadruple heart bypass surgery and lived for another 30 years, before his death in 2008, remarking: "If I hadn't been in that night, then there was no chance he would have survived and lived for another 30 years to see his grandchildren.
