This Morning's Josie Gibson starts show with sad update on co-host Craig Doyle

Josie Gibson left This Morning viewers gutted as she delivered some 'sad' news about her co-host Craig Doyle, just seconds into Thursday's show.

As Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby continue their lengthy break for Christmas and following in the footsteps of last week's guest hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary, Josie has been at the helm of the ITV daytime show this week alongside former Holiday presenter Craig Doyle. It took just minutes of them being on screen on Monday, for many viewers to not only celebrate them being reunited on screen, but also calling for them to be This Morning's full time presenters.

Over the course of the last few days, the two hosts have addressed big news stories, like reports of Prince Harry lining up his first UK TV interview and the NHS strike, as well as gearing viewers up for Christmas with segments on Christmas food and drink and being joined by a host of guests in the studio.

They were back on screen on Thursday, but just seconds after the opening credits had finished, for Josie to pretend to cry, as she revealed it was Craig's last day.

She began: "It's a really joyful day, because we've got three days 'til Christmas, but it's also a vefy sad day today, it's really sad, cry cry," with Craig putting his hand on her arm and asking: "Why? What's happened."

The former Big Brother winner, still appearing emotional, replied: "It's Craig's last day; he's going home, all the way to Ireland," right as sad music started to play in the background, with her dramatically adding: "Never to be seen again."

The music was cut, with Josie then clarifying "Only joking! It's not your last day," with Craig quipping: "If anyone's on the M4 at half past 12 today, get off the motorway as I'm rushing to the airport."
