This Morning's Dermot O'Leary mortified as 'unseen' footage emerges

A mortified Dermot O'Leary was left squirming in his seat as behind the scenes footage of him at This Morning played out on screen on Wednesday.

With usual hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby off for Easter, Dermot and his Friday co-star Alison Hammond have seen their roles boosted on the ITV show, with them at the helm for five consecutive days this week. The two are known for getting up to some high jinks in the studio but former X Factor presenter Dermot wasn't expecting something he got up to during an ad break to be broadcast to millions of viewers at home.

Midway through a show that had seen them discuss the day's top new stories and be joined by Martin Lewis, Alison and Dermot teased the arrival of Strictly winner turned Dancing on Ice judge Oti Mabuse, to talk about choreographing new musical The Cher Show, with the pair then cutting to commercials. However, on the show's return, producers sprung a surprise on Dermot.

Welcoming viewers back, Dermot remarked: "We've had a nice time in the break haven't we? Dancing to a Cher rehearsal. You'll be subjected to the whole thing in a minute." Just as he'd finished saying that, the camera cut away from Dermot and Alison live to a clip of Dermot doing some dancing in front of Oti dutring the break.

Realising what had gone on, Dermot shouted: "Woah woah woah! Oh no! No, no, no, no, no! The break's like a confessional booth. What are you doing?"

He and Alison then both uttered the same words, saying: "What happens in the break stays in the break." Alison added: "We'll have to have a word with those people upstairs," with Dermot remarking: "You can't trust anyone here."
