This Morning's Alison Hammond makes major announcement on Coronation special after ITV secrecy

Alison Hammond has let the cat out the bag on This Morning switching location for a huge Coronation special. And, in a very apt move, the ITV show will broadcast live from the set of Coronation Street for a massive party next month.

Right at the start of Monday's This Morning, Alison's colleagues, Phillip Schofield and Rochelle Humes informed viewers that Alison would be making an appearance at around 12 noon to make a big announcement, without offering any further explanation.

When she next appeared on screen, Alison, the recently confirmed new host of The Great British Bake Off, teased that she was 200 miles away from the This Morning studio, before it was then immediately obvious where she was reporting live from, as she appeared on the famous Wetherfield cobbles.

She was then joined outside the iconic Rovers Return by Coronation Street stars Sally Anne Matthews and Jodie Prenger, to reveal that, for one day only, This Morning will be taking over the set of the long-running ITV soap on Friday, May 5, to stage a celebration in honour of King Charles III's Coronation the following day.

After being told to keep the party a huge secret, Alison looked delighted to reveal all and exclaimed: "How amazing is that?! We are going to be gatecrashing Coronation Street! And when I say we, I'm talking about everyone: the crew, we've got presenters, we've got loads of cordially invited guests...the sofa's coming!"

Alison then had some bad news for Phillip and Rochelle back in London, when she said that, with the party being on a Friday, they wouldn't be involved and instead it would be her and Dermot O'Leary doing the honours for the occasion.
