This Morning's Alison Hammond focus of unexpected announcement from colleagues Phillip and Holly

Alison Hammond was at at the centre of an unexpected announcement within moments of This Morning starting on Wednesday as it was revealed that she's 'broken America.'

Since she and Dermot O'Leary took over as permanent Friday presenters at the start of last year, Alison has become a big favourite amongst fans of the ITV daytime show. And both during her time as a main host and, prior to that when she was This Morning's resident celebrity reporter, the former Big Brother contestant has given viewers plenty of hilarious moments.

Alison has had memorable interviews with the likes of Harrison Ford, Britney Spears and Julie Andrews and clips of her showbiz encounters and her infectious laughter during them have now spread over the Atlantic to be featured on a primetime American show. News of Alison's Stateside stardom was revealed by her This Morning colleagues Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby just as cameras rolled on the latest episode.

Kicking things off at the top of the show, Holly said: "We have big news about our very own Alison Hammond...she has broken America!" Phillip then explained: "In a montage played on last week's Tonight with John Oliver, viewers were treated to a compilation of Alison's laugh."

The montage entitled 'The Delightful Delight of Alison Hammond,' then played out on screen, including an excerpt of her interview with Harrison and co-star Ryan Gosling, which resulted in her laughing her head off after admitting to Harrison she'd never seen Blade Runner.

As the lip ended and cameras cut back to Phillip and Holly, Holly remarked: "Well done! It was only a matter of time!" Heaping more praise on Alison, Phillip added: "That is the biggest show for comedians in America. What a great thing to be on."
