This Morning fans slam Vernon Kay's 'rude' interruption of guest amid timing blunder

This Morning fans were left unimpressed by Vernon Kay’s transition between segments on the Tuesday instalment of the daytime show, as he “rudely” interrupted a guest.

Dr Rangan Chatterjee appeared on the programme to promote his new book and discuss happiness with the 47-year-old presenter and his co-host Josie Gibson, 37.

But as the physician gave ITV viewers a list of simple tips for boosting their day-to-day happiness, Vernon was forced to interrupt him mid-sentence.

Dr Rangan said: “I think the other thing we get wrong is we confuse happiness with success.”

He continued: “Many of us think we’re chasing -” before Vernon had to interrupt.

The ITV presenter said: “I’m going to have to interject there because we’ve got to go to the local weather, which is a ‘hard kind’, so we’ve got to do it in about four seconds.”

He began to speed up as he continued: “But the book is available, thank you very much for coming, here is the weather wherever you are in the country.”

Next to him, Josie collapsed into fits of giggles at the transition, while Dr Rangan looked rather more stoney-faced.

As This Morning moved to an ad break, ITV viewers took to Twitter to label the moment “rude”.

One wrote: “Seriously, does Vernon think he's funny? NO just rude.”

Another chimed: “Aww poor doctor he looked so sad when they cut him off.”

A third tweeted: “That was a bit ignorant cutting the guy off,” as another posted: “I think the Doc will be disappointed with that final book plug.”

Another fan wrote: “That cut off was brutal. Was interested in that.”

A fellow ITV viewer chipped in: “Yet again another interesting segment gets cut away for the weather! We don't need weather updates. I wanted to hear more from the happiness doc.”

When the programme returned, Vernon addressed the cut-short interview, saying he felt a bit "rude" interrupting and again mentioning the physician's new book.

Elsewhere in Monday’s programme, Vernon Kay took a cheeky swipe at This Morning producers for guilt-tripping him into going to the gym by inviting hunky guests on the show.

The 47-year-old was reduced to giggles by a topless snap of guest Alessandro Cinquini.

The Italian hunk appeared on the programme remotely from Florida alongside girlfriend Nicole Hayden to open up about their experiences of catfishing online.

After Nicole told the TV presenters how she had started dating Alessandro after being 'catfished' with his photos by a stranger, Alessandro detailed having his identity stolen for the purpose.

As This Morning showed ITV viewers Alessandro’s beach snap in the middle of the conversation, Josie quipped: “No wonder you were clicking Nicole. That is a lovely picture.”

Meanwhile, Vernon said: “Two days in a row! Dr Scott yesterday and now this. I’m just floored by blokes with huge tremendous rigs.

“Look at this guy. This is subliminal. Alright, I’m going to go to the gym. I get it This Morning. Crikey.”

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV and ITV Hub.
