Timothy Schofield, Phillip's brother, appeared in Exeter Crown Court yesterday accused of sexually abusing a teenage boy. The 54-year-old denies 11 charges of interfering with a child.
Jurors at Exeter Crown Court have heard how how "shocked" Phillip was when he allegedly confessed to a sex act on a teenager. The court heard how Timothy Schofield went to his famous sibling's house in September 2021 and said he had "time" with the teenager, during which they watched porn and performed sex acts together.
The court heard Phillip Schofield replied: "What the hell is time? That should never happen again." Prosecutor Mr Robin Shellard said as he opened the case: "The defendant is seven years younger than Phillip and they had not been particularly close growing up, however in December 2019 the defendant told his brother he was gay.
According to Phillip the defendant travelled up that day [September 2021] and he was extremely agitated. His brother described him as very angry and distressed.
Timothy Schofield was arrested on December 3, 2021.
Mrs Justice Johanna Cutts is presiding over the trial. She told the jury on the first day of the trial to ignore the fact that the defendant's brother is a famous TV personality.
The trial continues.
