Glen Johnson believes Liverpool should sign England international Tammy Abraham despite his recent horror injury.
An underwhelming campaign for Roma saw the former Chelsea man bag just eight goals in 38 league appearances. Jose Mourinho even dropped Abraham for the final five fixtures while I Giallorossi chased a Champions League spot.
Reports have linked Abraham - valued at around £40million - with a return to England just two years after leaving Chelsea for the continent. However, an ACL injury earlier this month means the 25-year-old is likely to be sidelined for the rest of 2023.
Ironically, Merseyside rivals Everton are one of the clubs reportedly keeping tabs on Abraham as Sean Dyche aims to bolster his frontline. There were even suggestions Aston Villa, who can offer European football under Unai Emery, had agreed a deal for the striker before his ACL nightmare.

While Jurgen Klopp has rarely played with an out-and-out striker throughout his time at Anfield, there have, at times, been calls for him to have the option in his squad.. Former Liverpool defender Johnson has urged the German to bring Abraham back to the top flight - regardless of his current availability.
“This may sound surprising, but I’d go for someone like Tammy Abraham,” he told Betfred. “He’s gone away to Italy, scored plenty of goals and he knows the Premier League. If he’s the number nine in a proper team, then I believe he’s going to score a lot of goals and I don’t believe signing him would break the bank.”
