Designer bags might be beautiful, but they can leave a big dent in your monthly earnings – that is, unless you’re perusing Mytheresa.
Mytheresa, for the uninitiated, is an online retailer akin to Selfridges, Net-A-Porter, or Farfetch, but with one hell of a sale selection. And yes, I know the endless scrolling of sale sections can feel a little tedious – we’ve all found ourselves in a scroll-hole or two – but fear not.
I’ve done the leg/scrollwork for you on this one, and brought you my pick of the best designer bags on sale right now.
From Vivienne Westwood and Acne Studios to Givenchy and Khaite, there’s something in this list for every taste, every wardrobe and every occasion – plus more than a few of my personal favourites.

But, all that said, if none of my selection is for you, then Mytheresa’s own sale section remains open for your personal perusal – the choice, as always, is yours.
Vivienne Westwood Granny Frame leather tote bag
Let’s kick off with one of my all-time favourites, Vivienne Westwood. The spirit of punk is alive and well in the subversive output of this British-born brand, and I for one am an absolute sucker for just about every leather good and plaid pattern it puts out into the world.
Slashed by 30 per cent, this Granny Frame leather number recalls the designs of early 20th-century coin purses with its secure kiss-lock clasp, hallmarked with the emblematic Orb motif front and centre.
Givenchy Voyou mini leather shoulder bag
I’m guessing it’s not escaped your attention that butter yellow is the colour of the moment when it comes to womenswear. Well, it’s not escaped Givenchy’s either.
Givenchy's Voyou Mini shoulder bag has been cut from an uber-soft leather for a slouchy shape. Plus, the statement-making finish comes courtesy of its buckled hardware and atypical hue.
Acne Studios Trompe-l’oeil denim tote bag
Another of my personal go-tos, Acne Studios is the Scandi brand with a subtly defiant tone at its core. A cool-girl stalwart, nothing makes me feel more like I know my stuff than adding a bit of the brand to my everyday outfits.
Although unusual and edgy, this Acne Studios Trompe-l’oeil denim tote bag can go with just about anything thanks to its relatively neutral colourway. Made in Italy using a pure cotton denim, this hardy bag is ready to endure everything that your daily calendar puts it through... yes, even the tube.
Magda Butrym Brigitte suede shoulder bag
A long baguette body, tall curved handles, rich calf leather suede – yep, this Magda Butrym Brigitte suede shoulder bag is a throwback to nineties and noughties styles if there ever was one.
Nostalgia is at the heart of Magda Butrym designs, and this shoulder bag exemplifies the brand’s aesthetic perfectly. Plus, the signature floral-appliqué detailing is a key design motif, subtly tipping off those in the know that you are an individual of excellent, excellent taste... they don’t need to know it was 50 per cent off.
Khaite Olivia Medium studded suede tote bag
While in this list I’ve shouted out a few of my favourite brands (and later, a bag or two I’ve owned for a while), Khaite is a brand I haven’t yet invested in... but I pine after.
Known for its love of contrasts – masculine and feminine, strong and soft, structure and fluidity – Khaite is about adventure and freedom. The Olivia bag, in all its studded suede beauty, has been on just about all of my Pinterest boards since its release, and can be carried via its top strap or slung comfortably over the shoulder.
Dolce&Gabbana Lock leather shoulder bag
We’ve touched on a few newer names, but let’s go back to heritage. Sicilian label Dolce & Gabbana has been one of the biggest names in fashion for decades, ever since its inception in 1984.
Although famed for its patterns and florals, D&G strips things back and keeps them simple with this Lock leather shoulder bag. Not everything has to be leopard print, and sometimes a little refined, striking simplicity can do the job (and more).
Jacquemus Le Chiquito Moyen leather tote bag
This is a big one; dear reader, this is the first designer bag I ever bought myself. With my first few fashion jobs under my belt, I bought this Jacquemus Le Chiquito (albeit in the ‘petit’ size). I still use it to this day and – more importantly – it’s still as bright white and beautiful as the day I took it out of its dustbag.
Simon Porte Jacquemus is one of my all-time favourite designers, with an approach to femininity that is light but sharp, fierce and slinky, soft and structured. In the aforementioned bright white colourway, this Le Chiquito is both bold and delicate, bringing a versatility that makes it viable for both everyday and more formal use.
Isabel Marant Bolton leather shoulder bag
If you’re after something with a less polished, more boho energy, Isabel Marant is your girl. Deeply Parisian and subtly chaotic, the Bolton leather shoulder bag exemplifies precisely what the brand does so well.
Made from smooth calf leather and fully lined, the Bolton shoulder bag is defined by its chalk colourway, lightly contrasted with chestnut brown detailing and beaded charms. Plus, it's got more room for bits and bobs than just about any of the designer bags on this list – a type B girl’s dream.
Tom Ford Tara Mini suede crossbody bag
A change of pace now, Tom Ford strips things back to basics with this Tara Mini crossbody. An everyday bag needn’t be laden with bells and whistles, and this TF bag embodies the elegance and refinement that happily layers over every outfit.
Made in Italy from a rich brown suede, this simple square-shaped number features an adjustable strap and a foldover design, secured with a magnetic fastening accented with the signature T hardware.
