If you’ve ever considered a leather iPhone case or a premium mobile accessory, there is a good chance you’ve come across something from Nomad Goods.
Now, they’re dropping a new wireless charger that is designed for iPhones with MagSafe. The Stand One is most certainly a premium option at $109.95. For that price you get a “Made for MagSafe” badge and a super luxe build made from metal and glass.
It’s also finally a charger from Nomad that isn’t lay-flat, but rather props up your iPhone. Furthermore, I’ve been testing one for a few days and there is a lot to like if you’re willing to pay for it.

Nomad Stand One ($109.95 at Nomad Goods)
The Stand One is a hefty unit and likely one that will get a permanent home on your desk or nightstand. It weighs in at 613-grams and that is mostly felt on the bottom of to ensure it doesn’t topple over. There is also a rubber coating on the bottom that ensures it doesn’t slide or move around.
On the back there is a permanently attached wired cable that ends with a USB-C port. It is plenty long at two meters, but the catch 22 with the Stand One is that you need to supply your own wall plug. For $109.95 we really wish Nomad included one in the box, especially as you’ll need a 20-watt brick to ensure fast charging.
Not the end of the world though, when you consider that you might have one around your home but beware that there may be an additional cost. You could get a 20-watt charger from Nomad for $18.95 or opt for a more affordable one from Anker for just $12.79.
The overall build here screams premium and luxe which represents the price point well. The metal build reacts to temperature well and makes the Stand One look very dapper. It’s a slanted L design which will leave your iPhone at a vertical 21-degree angle.
I tested the Stand One with iPhone’s of all sizes including the larger 14 Pro Max and 14 Plus which snapped on and held well without any issues. Similarly, the iPhone 12, iPhone 13 Mini, as well as the 14 and 14 Pro attached with no issues. I especially like how it ends up giving the appearance that your iPhone is levitating a bit.

With the phone attached, the iPhone can easily authenticate with Face ID to let you view notifications, take a FaceTime call, scroll through TikTok, or even rotate your iPhone horizontally to watch a video. The iPhone charged with MagSafe without a hitch and Nomad is using an Apple-official puck here. With the latest iPhones—14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, and 14 Pro Max—you can get up to 15-watt charging speeds wirelessly which bests what you'll see from a standard Qi-enabled charger.
In comparison to Nomad’s Base One, the Stand One is a bit more functional in that it props your iPhone up which makes it a bit easier to use. It makes the Stand One way more functional when on a desk.
While nearly $110 is a lot for a wireless charger, the other pro is that MagSafe isn’t going away which makes this a longer investment. It launched with the iPhone 12 and Apple is still pushing its advantages, as well as including it on the iPhone 14 family. Unlike a case which is generally good for a single phone model, this wireless charger should support future iPhones with no issue.
If you’re after a premium MagSafe charger that doesn't sacrifice design or first-party parts, the Stand One is well worth it. Just be ready to bring your own wall plug.
