England hero Chloe Kelly reflected on her winning goal against Germany in the Euro 2022 final as “what dreams are made of”.
The Manchester City forward scored her first competitive goal for the Lionesses in the 110th-minute of the Wembley showpiece, bundling home after a goalmouth scramble.
Kelly came on as a substitute and helped change the game after Lina Magull had cancelled out Ella Toone’s stunning opener.
The goal took England to their first major women’s international tournament win and their first overall since the victorious 1966 World Cup final.
Sarina Wiegman’s side remain unbeaten under her watch and her ability to change games with in-game decisions has been one of the main reasons England have been able to conquer Europe for the first time.
Kelly, who suffered an ACL injury in 2021, made her first international appearance in 2018 and has since won 16 caps, the last of which has already been written in the record books.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Kelly said: "Oh my God, look at them, it is amazing, thank you to every single person that supported us. This is unreal...Sweet Caroline!
"It’s amazing, thank you everyone, this is what dreams are made of, as a young girl watching women’s football. Wow, this is unbelievable.”
