This is what Bill Belichick said about Tom Brady’s retirement

When it comes to NFL history, the name Tom Brady will always be synonymous with Bill Belichick. The legendary quarterback and head coach were the greatest duo to ever do it after a near two-decade run with the New England Patriots.

Brady announced his retirement from football on Wednesday, officially ending his all-time great run in the NFL at the age of 45. Belichick put out a statement regarding the retirement and even tipped his cap to Brady leaving the sport as the “most successful player in league history.”

The written statement said:

“Tom Brady was the ultimate winner. He entered the NFL with little to no fanfare and leaves as the most successful player in league history. His relentless pursuit of excellence drove him on a daily basis. His work ethic and desire to win were both motivational and inspirational to teammates and coaches alike. Tom was a true professional who carried himself with class and integrity throughout his career. I thank Tom for the positive impact he had on me and on the Patriots and congratulate him on his amazing career.”

Brady won seven Super Bowls over the course of his NFL career, but six of those victories came alongside Belichick and the Patriots.

Things obviously didn’t work out in the end between the two sides, and Brady ended up finishing his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Regardless of how things ended, both sides will forever be tethered together in history through a bevy of accomplishments and accolades the likes of which no other quarterback and head coach duo has ever seen.
