Last year, when the Boston Celtics ended their season against the Brooklyn Nets banged up and sans critical players after a disappointing season and a fight through the East’s play-in tournament to earn the honor of being dispatched in a gentlemen’s sweep by the Nets, there were grumbles that All-Star forward Jayson Tatum was being too deferential, too friendly to the team that sent the Celtics fishing.
This year, it is the Celtics with the better season, the better seeding, and ironically facing a banged-up Brooklyn squad that had to fight THEIR way into the role held by Boston in 2021.
With play that put him squarely in range of First Team All-NBA and on the edge of the 2022 Most Valuable Player (MVP) debate, Tatum has a chance to leave his mark on the biggest stage in the NBA if he can get past the Nets.
