This iPhone hack helps you decipher clothing instructions for a perfect wash

We've all been there, right?

You chuck a load of clothes in the washing machine on the hop when you're low on time.

Maybe you forget to check the instructions on certain items of clothing. As soon as the load is done, you are filled with dread after realising you have ruined one of your pieces.

It may be snagged, dyed a funny colour, or shrunken so much that you have no choice but to throw it out. It certainly is annoying when you have to bin something just because you made an error with your washing machine.

But fear no more, because one savvy Instagrammer has revealed how to keep your clothes looking spic and span with every single wash — just by using an iPhone.

Instagram user Brad Canning's ultimate life hack using the iPhone shows how you can use it to help with laundry loads. His suggestion shows you exactly what each of the weird little symbols on clothing labels means.

All you have to do is take an up-close photo of the laundry care label. An information symbol will appear at the bottom when you open it in the photos app, showing how to take care when washing specific items.

Once you tap the link that appears, the screen will say “Look up Laundry Care”. When you follow that link, your phone will handily show you what each of the symbols means — such as tumble dry or do not bleach.

Canning’s tip had at the time of writing attracted nearly 1.5 million views on Instagram.

The Australian influencer shared his tip with his 23,000 followers, writing: “This phone hack is a game changer! you can use this feature next time you need to know a plant name too!”

His followers praised him for helping to save their future washing loads.

One wrote: "Oh my. How did I never know this. So many whites that could have been saved."

Another added: "I never know what they mean. I just bung it all in and hope for the best."
