Austrian authorities have arrested a third suspect in connection with an alleged terror attack set to target Taylor Swift’s now-canceled Eras Tour shows in Vienna. The 18-year-old suspect was detained on Thursday, August 8, after being in contact with the main suspect, a 19-year-old who was arrested earlier in the week along with a 17-year-old accomplice. Both the 18-year-old and the main suspect are accused of pledging allegiance to ISIS.
The cancelation of Swift's three concerts at the Ernst Happel Stadium was announced by concert promoter Barracuda Music on Wednesday, August 7, due to credible intelligence of a planned terrorist attack on the venue. Austria’s Chancellor Karl Nehemmer defended the decision, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing safety in such serious situations.
Swift, who was scheduled to perform in Vienna between August 8 and August 10, is now set to return to the stage in London for five shows at Wembley Stadium between August 15 and August 20. The London Metropolitan Police reassured the public that the foiled attack in Vienna should not impact Swift’s upcoming performances in the city.
As of now, Swift has not made any public statements regarding the alleged terror plot or the canceled Vienna concerts.
