Erik ten Hag has already raided former club Ajax for two of their key players this summer and a current young Ajax squad member has not ruled out becoming a third.
Amourricho van Axel Dongen, 17, conceded he too could possibly follow Lisandro Martinez and Antony to Old Trafford, admitting: “Our paths may cross in the future.” The teenager currently plays for Ajax Jong, the club’s youth side, but was handed his first-team debut by Ten Hag, featuring as a substitute in the Dutch Cup in December.
The winger went on to make his Eredivisie debut against FC Utrecht in January before making his first senior start in the 9-0 cup thrashing of Excelsior four days later, in which he bagged an assist.

Van Axel Dongen hailed Ten Hag for the opening he gave him last term. “I will remain eternally grateful to him for giving me the opportunity as a young player to play football with players like Antony and Dusan Tadic,” he told Voetbal Zone. “I think it’s great to see that things are going a bit better with Manchester United; I really wish him that.”
The youngster has not been tied down to a new deal at Ajax and refused to dismiss a reunion with his former boss later down the line. He added: “Unfortunately, I haven’t had the chance to speak to him [Ten Hag] since his transfer to United, but who knows, our paths may cross in the future. To be honest, I am not currently in the process of renewing my contract. For now I will focus completely on staying fit and playing and see what comes my way. Talks are not underway yet, but they could always be.”
