Things to do with the kids in Liverpool over May half term and Jubilee

Finally, a half term that doesn’t require us to use an entire week’s annual leave.

God bless the Queen. But what will do you? Thankfully here in Liverpool we're spoilt for choice. There's plenty happening across the region over the next week to keep the children occupied and make some precious memories.

Below we've rounded up some of the best family fun the region has to offer, this half term, with some Jubilee themed activities included, should you wish to celebrate the occasion.

The Reader

Bathe The Cat at the Storybarn

Head to Calderstones Park and The Reader this May half-term, for some family-friendly chaos based on the book Bathe The Cat by Alice B. McGinty and illustrated by David Roberts.

They’ll be setting silly challenges, taking part in cat-themed crafts, and reading aloud from this brilliant new book. Runs from Monday, May 30 to Sunday, June 5. Sessions are at 10am, 12pm and 2.30pm. Tickets are £4 per person (under ones are free but will still need a ticket). Find out more here.

Bogs, Newts and Hullabaloo Welly Walk

Walks begin outside the Mansion House on Monday, May 30 and leave at 10am, 11.30am and 2pm. Each walk lasts around one hour and all trails are fully accessible. Best suited for families with children aged four and over (under ones can join for free but will still need a ticket). All Welly Walks take place outdoors so please bring appropriate clothing and a bottle of water. Find out more here.

Ginger Island Arts

If you’re in need of some childcare this half term, how about an arts and crafts holiday club? Located at King David Primary School from May 30 to June 1. Fees are £25 per child per day and sessions are open to children of primary school age from any primary School. Find out more here.

Tate Liverpool

Get creative this half term with free activities for families of all ages. Head down to the Tate's Creative Station for Tackling the Blues (TtB). It's is an award-winning sport, physical activity and arts education-based programme, which supports children and young people aged six to 16 who are experiencing, or are at risk of developing, mental illness. Rainy afternoon? Why not pick up a sketchbook full of art activities from the Family Space at Tate Liverpool and have fun exploring the galleries. Can you complete all the drawing challenges as you discover exciting artworks in their new display, Journeys through the Tate collection. Find out more here.

Bounce House Liverpool

Bounce House is throwing a Jubilee Weekender Deal, with £10 admission from Thursday, June 2 to Sunday, June 5. Every guest receives a free jubilee sweet cone. Find out more here.

Chester Zoo

Do you have a mini conservationist on your hands? How about a three day holiday club at Chester Zoo? It runs from May 31 to June 2 from 8.45am to 4pm. Children can take part in playful zoo trails, inspiring conservation action, exciting games, plus arts and crafts. Fees are £115 per child. Find out more here.

Mersey Ferry

Feeling adventurous? Why not try a Sightseeing River Cruise? Glide over the Mersey river uncovering Liverpool's musical and maritime past. Tickets are £11.50 for adults and £5.50 for children. Under fives are free. Find out more here.

Otterspool Adventure Park

The Greatest Show on Earth is coming to Otterspool and the invent includes a sing along, circus school and parade. Pick a time that’s best for you, from June 2 to 4. Morning shows are at 9.30am to 1.30pm and afternoon shows at 2pm to 6pm. Tickets are £14 per child and £7 per adult. Find out more here.

Activity for All - Wirral

Inflatables, soft play, football and face painting, all for £10 per child. There will also be a BBQ, cakes, jugs of Pimms and beer offers. Book online here. Takes place on Friday, June 3.

Martin Mere

The WWT Wetland Centre has a packed program of events scheduled for your little explorers. Daily bug hunts, pond dipping, giant bugs and boat tours. They also have baby chick flamingo’s on site. Family tickets are available from as little as £37.86. Find out more here.

BeWILDerwood

Zip wires are a popular feature at BeWILDerwood Cheshire (Andrew Kahumbu)

BeWILDerwood is a huge forest full of family fun and outdoor adventure. Families wishing to escape the everyday and run wild this half term can save 15% online, right up until July 2022. Find out more here.

Knowsley Safari

Knowsley Safari is hosting the Queen of Hearts Garden Party from Monday, May 30 to Friday 3rd June. Included in every regular Safari ticket price, guests will be given a map to help them seek out Alice In Wonderland characters at key points throughout the foot safari.
