How the Louvre’s other famous heist became part of art history

Nine pieces of jewellery from the historic collection of Napoleon and the Empress have been stolen from the Louvre Museum in a daring heist. Thieves reportedly used a basket lift to access the world’s most visited institution on Sunday morning.

The audacious theft unfolded as tourists were present inside the Galerie d’Apollon, where a significant portion of the French Crown Jewels is displayed. Following the incident, the museum was promptly closed for the day as police sealed its gates and launched a full investigation.
