Thierry Henry told Jack Grealish he could replace him on the CBS Sports pundit panel if Manchester City win the Champions League – after the playmaker accidentally swore on live TV.
Grealish starred once again for Pep Guardiola’s side as they blew away defending champions Real Madrid 4-0 on Wednesday night. It sets up a mouth-watering final against Italian giants Inter Milan in next month’s showpiece event in Istanbul.
City have been imperious in the Champions League this season and particularly at the Etihad, their knockout win home victories over RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich and Madrid reads three wins from three, with 14 goals scored and none conceded.
Grealish was caught up in the emotions of the victory on Wednesday and minutes after the final whistle blew, he was ushered over to the CBS pitchside coverage which included Henry and fellow pundits Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards.
“I’m a bit speechless at the moment, I don’t really know what to say,” Grealish said on CBS Sports for his thoughts on the match. He then added: “I’m f******…” before abruptly catching himself, with Carragher saying, amid laughter: “Oi!”
“You took my spot man,” a smiling Henry says as he returns in front of the camera. The former Arsenal striker then added: “If you win the final, you get to stay here!”

Grealish then makes his way back onto the pitch to join the celebrations before saying to Carragher: “Cheers to putting me in your team of the year!”
The former Aston Villa star was referencing Carragher’s combined XI between Manchester United ’s 1999 treble-winning team and the current version of Manchester City’s team, where former Liverpool defender Carragher selected Grealish over Ryan Giggs on the left side of attack.
Grealish then later added, on BT Sport: “I am just buzzing to be in this moment. It's so nice. I don’t think a lot of teams would be able to do that (win 4-0) against Real Madrid. We felt unstoppable. I don’t know what it is.”
“I saw a stat the other day about our record here in the Champions League, we have won every game here in the competition – it's unbelievable. We feel unstoppable at this season and nobody can beat us: when you see what we did tonight, and against Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig, it's unbelievable.”
