Thibaut Courtois gets permanent Liverpool Champions League reminder as Real Madrid celebrations continue

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has celebrated their Champions League final victory with a tattoo.

The shot-stopper put in a man of the match display against Liverpool when the two sides faced off in Paris last month. The La Liga giants ran out 1-0 winners on the night to secure the Champions League trophy.

Vinicius Jr scored the only goal of the match, but Liverpool could've scored a few of their own if not for the heroics of Courtois. The former Chelsea man has shared an image on social media of his tattoo, displaying a brick wall inside a goal alongside the trophy and his name.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp referenced the goalkeeper's performance in his post match interviews. He told the media after the final: "They scored a goal, we didn’t, that’s the easiest explanation in the world of football and it’s hard, harsh to get anyway, (but we) respect that of course.

"When the goalkeeper is Man of the Match then something is going wrong for the other team, so we had I think three really big chances where Courtois made incredible saves. I would have loved to have had a few more of this calibre.”

Courtois has been at Real Madrid for four years having joined the Spanish club in 2018. After seven years and over 150 appearances for Chelsea, he moved on and was replaced by record signing Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The Belgium international said in his post-match interviews last month: "Today I needed to win a final for my career. For all the hard work, to put some respect on my name, because I don't think I get enough respect. Especially in England."
The tattoo artist, based in Belgium, also shared an image of the work, along with the caption: "For the ONE and only Champ! Thankyou for giving me the opportunity to place this beautiful memory on your body. Had a great time and loved doing this piece!"
