Thiago Alcantara perfectly sums up the magnitude of what Liverpool can achieve

Thiago Alcantara insists he's "never had a month like it" - as Liverpool prepare for a season-defining April.

The Reds are aiming to become the first team in England to win the quadruple - lifting the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and EFL Cup in the same season. Jurgen Klopp's side have already won the latter trophy, beating Chelsea in February's final.

Liverpool's campaign could collapse in this month. They face Benfica in the quarter-finals of the Champions League on April 5 and 13 and travel to title rivals Manchester City on April 10. They will play City again six days later in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.

Liverpool's position in the Premier League is intriguing. A top four finish is a practically a given - considering their 18 points clear of Tottenham in fifth - and will have little left to play for if they slip behind City in the title race. City are currently one point ahead.

The Reds' other Premier League fixtures this month are against Newcastle (A), Everton (H), Manchester United (H) and Watford (H) - starting with the latter on Saturday in the early kick-off. City are playing on the same day and will travel to struggling Burnley.

Thaigo is no stranger to difficult months. He was part of the Barcelona side that won the treble in 2010-11, repeating the feat nine years later at Bayern Munich. Yet he believes this April will be exceptional, comparing it to an international tournament.

"The other day I was talking with some friends about it and I never had, in the years that I have been involved in football, I never had a month so exciting like this with such important and exciting matches every three days," Thiago told Liverpool's website.

"So it will be amazing. Well, it’s not the most exciting month of my career [but] for sure it is exciting because you are competing against the best, in the best competitions as well, but also because it reminds you that we are in finals.

"It looks like a World Cup, a European Cup, where every game is a final. With that we are in a one-mission mood and we are there."

Thiago was not called up for Spain's recent internationals against Albania and Iceland, allowing him to enjoy some time off before Liverpool's tough April.

"You can never be disconnected from football because in the end it is your life, part of your life, but you can also rest because the Premier League is very intense," added Thiago. "The Champions League is very intense in terms of the emotion of the people at night so it was good, this week off, to charge the batteries and be ready for this amazing two months that we have ahead."

On the confidence gained from winning the EFL Cup, Thiago said: "We had high stakes to win the final, we won it and the guys were incredibly happy and confident as well with the performance, with the whole tournament that we made. But also it is important to arrive in this moment of the season and be ready for the finals that we have."
