Declan Devine has urged everyone at Derry City to continue backing Ruaidhrí Higgins.
Higgins took the Brandywell job two years ago, shortly after Devine’s departure, and he led the Candy Stripes to FAI Cup glory and second in the table last year.
They are expected to push again for the title this time around and are currently second, six points behind Devine’s Bohemians.
However, their poor home form, including back-to-back defeats last weekend to Drogheda and Bohs, has set alarm bells ringing.
“The crowd just have to stay with him (Higgins), it’s so important in terms of continuity with everybody pulling together,” said Devine.
“Ruaidhrí is doing a fantastic job, he won an FAI Cup last year.
“Be careful what you wish for, because at the end of the day, Derry are a fantastic side with fantastic players and really big players to come back in.
“So I wouldn’t get too carried away at this moment in time because there will be a lot of twists and turns as the season evolves.
“They’ve to back Ruaidhrí now and help move the club on.”
