Two days after the Delhi coaching centre deaths, student protests continue while a war of words rages on between the AAP government, the BJP and the Lieutenant Governor’s administration.
However, a complaint has now pointed to another instance of official negligence linked to the episode. Kanishka Tiwari, a UPSC aspirant at Rau’s IAS Study Circle, had written to the public works department over waterlogging in several areas in Karol Bagh, including Rajinder Nagar, after a student died due to electrocution in Patel Nagar a week ago.The complaint was transferred to the MCD but no action was taken. Her complaint was filed just three days before sudden flooding in the coaching centre’s basement claimed three lives.
Newslaundry had earlier reported how building norms were flouted by Rau’s IAS Study Circle and how the lack of a clean-up of drains had contributed to waterlogging in the locality.
Kanishka says three lives could have been saved had the authorities acted on time.
