Popular pub chain Wetherspoons has announced it is discontinuing two of its legendary drinks - and has signed a new 20-year deal with Budweiser Brewing Group instead.

Hopefully, the replacements are just as flavourful.

In a report from The Scottish Sun, Strongbow and Strongbow Dark fruit will be replaced by Stowford Press Apple and Stowford Press Mixed Berries produced by Weston’s Cider, marking the end of a 41-year-long deal with Heineken and others.

Meanwhile Molson Coors’ Worthington’s bitter will take over from John Smith’s bitter.

Budweiser, Bud Light, Stella Artois, Corona, and Leffe Blonde will all be available in JD Wetherspoons’ new pubs, as well as seltzers, including Mike’s Hard Seltzer, Bud Light Seltzer, and Bathtub Gin.

These changes will be enacted on December 15.

“Budweiser Brewing Group UK&I will now become our biggest supplier, with new beers Budweiser, Corona and Leffe Blonde, in addition to their existing products, Stella Artois and Bud Light - as well as a range of bottled beers,” said Wetherspoon chairman Tim Martin said in a press release.

He also added that they would continue to sell a vast “range of traditional ales and craft beers from regional and micro brewers at competitive prices.”

Paula Lindenberg, the President of Budweiser Brewing Group, expressed her excitement over the “partnership with JD Wetherspoon.”

“We have a strong, leading portfolio that caters to evolving consumer trends, especially as people opt for more premium options post-Covid,” she said, in part.

The pub has other exciting, booze-related news to get you through the winter.

From November 21 to February 2022, 671 of its pubs will sell a pint of Ruddles Best or Greene King IPA, a bottle of Beck’s and a Bell’s whisky (25ml), including a mixer for just 99p.
