These are the results in the top five most expensive Pennsylvania State House elections

General elections for all 203 districts in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives took place on Nov. 8, 2022. Of the 203 districts up for election in 2022, 136 had a general election with more than one candidate.

Across all contested general elections, candidates raised $38.4 million. Incumbents raised an average of $227,118 per candidate and challengers raised an average of $78,235 per candidate.

Five general elections with the most fundraising

The table below details the five general elections with the most fundraising in the House of Representatives. Winning candidates’ names are in bold.

The officeholders above are listed for the current districts they hold. However, this is a redistricting year, so candidates have been identified below as incumbents even if they are running in a different district than they currently hold.

#1 District 35 – $3,841,587

Incumbent Austin Davis raised $3,838,402 and Donald Nevills raised $3,185.

Austin Davis won with 66 percent of the vote and Donald Nevills received 34 percent of the vote.

#2 District 30 – $2,073,857

Arvind Venkat raised $1,478,275 and Cindy Kirk raised $595,582.

Arvind Venkat won with 55 percent of the vote and Cindy Kirk received 45 percent of the vote.

#3 District 151 – $1,928,334

Incumbent Todd Stephens raised $829,929 and Melissa Cerrato raised $1,098,405.

Melissa Cerrato won with 50 percent of the vote and Todd Stephens received 50 percent of the vote.

#4 District 70 – $1,783,050

Incumbent Matthew Bradford raised $1,745,799 and Arthur Bustard raised $37,251.

Matthew Bradford won with 61 percent of the vote and Arthur Bustard received 39 percent of the vote.

#5 District 171 – $1,406,523

Incumbent Kerry Benninghoff raised $1,349,808 and Robert Zeigler raised $56,715.

Kerry Benninghoff won with 72 percent of the vote and Robert Zeigler received 28 percent of the vote.

The data above are based on campaign finance reports that active Pennsylvania PACs submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of State. Political expenditures that are not controlled by candidates or their campaigns, known as satellite spending, are not included in candidate totals.
